Keynote speakers

Alexandru Balas

Alexandru Balas, PhD, is a Professor and Coordinator of the International Studies Program, and the Director of the Clark Center for Global Engagement at the State University of New York (SUNY) College at Cortland, USA. He received a PhD in Political Science (International Relations) from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign (2011), a MA in Conflict Analysis and Resolution from Sabanci University (2006), and a BA in Political Science from the University of Bucharest. His books include Sharing the Burden of Peace (Peter Lang, 2022), The Puzzle of Peace (Oxford University Press, 2016) and Peace Operations (Polity Press, 2014).

Bhaso Ndzendze

Bhaso Ndzendze, PhD, is an Associate Professor of Political Science at the University of Johannesburg (UJ), specialized in African trade and territorial disputes. Bhaso's work delves into both regional disputes (such as Eritrea-Ethiopia and Kenya-Somalia) and global conflicts (including the Taiwan straits and Russia-Ukraine), aiming to develop and test new theoretical insights. He teaches courses on international relations, African militarization, political economy, and Africa-China relations, he is affiliated with the Africa Policy Research Institute (APRI) in Berlin and holds editorial roles at the Journal of Contemporary African Studies and CASAC (Council for the Advancement of the South African Constitution).

 

The Faculty of European Studies – Babeș-Bolyai University Cluj-Napoca, the Centre for Academic Succes – BBU, The Centre for African Studies – BBU, The State University of New York at Cortland and The University of Johannesburg, have the pleasure of announcing the organization of the 4th edition of the international conference Crisis Communication and Conflict Resolution, which will be held on April 17th-18th, 2024.

In crisis situations, effective communication and conflict resolution strategies are important aspects that cannot be disregarded. In order to address these challenges, this international conference aims to support academics, researchers, PhD and postgraduate students by offering them an opportunity to present their latest research results in the fields of:

The 2024 edition will be held in a hybrid format, both on-site and via on-line. Accepted papers will be published in a post-conference volume (e-book with ISBN).
