The Faculty of European Studies and the Centre for Academic Success/Centre de Réussite Universitaire – UBB have the pleasure of announcing the organization of the first edition of the international conference Crisis Communication and Conflict Resolution, which will be held on March 17th-18th, 2021.

Keynote speakers:

W. Timothy Coombs

Dr. W. Timothy Coombs is a Professor in the Department of Communication at Texas A&M University and a recognized global thought leader in crisis communication. Dr. Coombs is the author of the award-winning book “Ongoing Crisis Communication” (now in its third edition), of “Code Red in the Boardroom” and co-editor of “The Handbook of Crisis Communication”. He has consulted with agencies specializing in crisis communication in the US, Norway, Denmark, and Belgium, and his works appear in numerous academic journals

 

Adrian Lesenciuc

Adrian Lesenciuc is a Professor of Communication and Military Sciences in the Department of Fundamental Sciences at ‘Henri Coandă’ Air Force Academy in Brașov, Romania. His major interest in research concerns intercultural communication and communication in military and security sciences. He published numerous articles in academic journals. He designed the international conference Redefining Community in Intercultural Context (starting with 2011), quoted in important scientific databases. Recent publications include: The Theory of Concept-Holes (2020); The Romanian Military Thinking under Clausewitzian Influence (2019); Theories of Communication, 3rd edition (2017); Information Warfare (2016); Intercultural Communication within the Romanian Village (2015), Communicative Foundation of Military Sciences (first author) (2013). Adrian Lesenciuc is also a Romanian writer, president of the Brașov branch of the Romanian Writers Union, author of many books of novels, poetry and essays.

In crisis situations and in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, good communication and conflict resolution strategies are important aspects that cannot be disregarded. In order to address these challenges, this international conference aims to support the academics, researchers and PhD students by offering them an opportunity to present their latest research results in the fields of:

  • Conflict Transformation and Resolution
  • Political Communication
  • Institutional and Corporate Communication
  • Mass-media Communication
  • Education and Learning

Due to current restrictions and uncertainty regarding live events, the 2021 edition will be held via virtual participation and no participation fees are required. Accepted papers will be published in a post-conference volume (e-book with ISBN).

  • January 15th, 2021 – deadline for submission of title and abstract
  • January 17th, 2021 – notice of acceptance
  • March 25th, 2021 – deadline for submission of final paper
